Meet James McDaniel, Forester

“If you want to do it correctly, you want a forester in the woods before the harvest, not afterwards. It’s difficult for landowners to know the true of value their woods.”

James McDaniel is the founder and forester of Cumberland Forest Management, LLC. James served twenty years as a forester for the Kentucky Division of Forestry after graduating with a degree in Forestry from the University of Kentucky. In 2018 he founded Cumberland Forest Management with the goal of giving landowners a resource to understand and realize the value of their timber resources, both as a financial asset and an environmental treasure.

Forestry is the art, science, and practice of managing the natural resources that occur on and in association with forestland for human benefit. At Cumberland Forest Management we believe that ‘Human Benefit’ includes protecting woodlands for future generations. As a renewable resource, timber harvest can be actually beneficial for the environment if done correctly.

Our expertise lies in understanding the trees that hold value for buyers, adeptly identifying these trees, and employing sustainable forest management practices that promote regrowth and environmental stability.
