We help Land Owners to be the best stewards of their Woodlands

Services

Species Survey

Not all trees are equal. Some species, like certain hardwoods, are highly valuable to wood product buyers. Other species have value in other ways to the overall health and sustainability of the eco-system. And some trees are non-native and considered invasive. We have the expertise to identify which trees are right for any harvesting operation.

Inventory / Value Assessment

Knowing what you have in your forest is an important early step in planning for a successful harvest. We survey a property for prior harvests, species composition, current market demand, and feasibility of harvesting a specific area.

Health Assessment

We assess the health of not only individual tress, but the forest as a whole. Our approach to timber harvesting is based on the commitment to maintaining the long-term health of a forest after timber acquisition.

Boundary Marking

Knowing your boundaries is very important.  We walk and mark the boundaries of a property and mark only the trees we determine should be harvested before lumberjacks begin their work.

Logger Procurement

Finding the right logger for a job can save a great deal of headache. We can find suitable, qualified loggers, and using a sealed bid system, handle all aspects of the timber sale and harvesting operation.

Logging Supervision

Making sure the job is done right and with the best interest of the land owner is important to us. We can oversee operations from start to finish, insuring the property is left in the best condition possible for future forest health. In overseeing a project, we will insist on Best Management Practices from contacted loggers.

Non-Crop Forest Consultation

As tree experts, we can help landowners who want to maintain a healthy, native, and diverse woodlands by species survey and health assessments.

Tree Farm Systems

Starting a tree farm in Kentucky and Tennessee takes thought and planning. Cumberland Forest Management can evaluate your property, perform soil testing, and make recommendations for tree species and start-up processes to ensure a successful tree farm crop.

Carbon Credits

Carbon Credits are a relatively new market for larger companies to offset their “carbon footprint” by paying landowners for their forest property. While these market efforts are still being worked out, having a certified forester evaluate and inventory your timber can ensure the value of your woodland are valued accurately.
